Bless the Lord, O my soul and all that is within me, bless His Holy Name
(Psalm 103:1 NKJV)
There is something to be said about the wisdom in the sentence “count your blessings, name them one by one”.
It takes little effort to replay the painful occurrences we’ve endured.
Some of us have no problem remembering the sordid details of the wrongs committed against us.
The work, the intentionality that leads to our blessed quietness, comes from “deciding”. When we decide to forget, when we decide to forgive, when we decide to count our blessings, thank God for His goodness, provision and His plan for our lives, we position ourselves for God to use us AND comfort us in numerous ways.
More importantly, when we count our blessings as opposed to our failures, mistreatments, or deliberate acts of ill will toward us, we bring glory to God. Easier said than done, Paul wrote: In all things give thanks. This is the perfect will of God in
Christ Jesus concerning you. We rarely continue the thought. Paul continues; And the peace of God will guard your hearts
and minds, through Christ Jesus! See Philippians 4:6,7 NKJV
Decide to worship. Be intentional in your worship. Decide to count your blessings. Name them one by one. Watch God bless you in ways you’ve never imagined!
Bless the Lord O my soul and forget not all His benefits (Psalm 103:2 NKJV).
